MacFarlane Plans Big-Screen, Live Action Debut in Ted

Seth MacFarlane, creator of the animated hits Family Guy, American Dad! and The Cleveland Show, is making the leap to the big screen with a live-action/CG hybrid comedy called Ted.

The film was sold to Universal Pictures by developer Media Rights Capital, according to Deadline Hollywood Daily. MacFarlane is set to direct, produce, co-star in and voice the lead CG character. He also wrote the script with Family Guy writers Alec Sulkin and Wellesley Wild.

The movie is described as being about a man and his teddy bear, and the studio intends to start production on the film this year, Deadline reports.

MacFarlane and MRC previously collaborated on the Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy, a series of online animated shorts that was later released on DVD.
