Pixar’s officially opened Tuesday in Vancouver a new facility that will focus on producing shorts and TV specials based on characters from the studio’s previous films.
Visitors to the new facility were greeted with a welcoming video featuring Pixar characters visiting local landmarks.
Pixar general manager Amir Nasrabadi told CTV News that the talent pool was a major factor in the decision to open the new studio.
“Vancouver has a very mature, high-quality talent pool, driven primarily by the strength of the industry and great local universities and schools,” he said at a press conference.
Pixar Canada plans to eventually have up to 100 people on staff.
