Pulitzers Honor Animated Editorial Cartoonist

The Pulitzer Prizes have gotten animated.

The annual honors for journalistic and artistic achievement have bestowed their 2010 honor for editorial cartooning on SF Gate‘s Mark Fiore for his animated online political cartoons.

Fiore was recognized for his ‘biting wit, extensive research and ability to distill complex issues [which] set a high standard for an emerging form of commentary.’ He won out over finalists Tony Auth of The Philadelphia Inquirer and Matt Wuerker of Politico.

Fiore is the first-ever winner of the editorial cartooning Pulitzer whose work has appeared in a medium other than print.
