Singapore, FremantleMedia Launch Animation Fund

The Media Development Authority of Singapore and FremantleMedia Enteprises have established a new International Animation Fund that will invest up to $3.5 million U.S. for qualifying projects.

The fund, announced at MIP-TV, follows the MDA’s successful commissioning of and investment in about 200 hours worth of animation titles for co-production. FremantleMedia will represent the chosen projects ‘ which can include anything from TV series to telemovies and feature films ‘ as a worldwide distributor.

‘We look forward very much to co-creating new intellectual property in and by Singapore’s animation community in partnership with like-minded members of the animation cluster from around the world,’ said Christopher Chia, MDA’s CEO.

Applications for the funding can be downloaded at www.smf.sg and must be received in Singapore by June 30. All projects must have a Singapore partner and finalists will be asked to pitch their ideas in person in Singapore to an evaluation panel comprising senior executives from MDA and FremantleMedia.
