Fox is developing an animated Napoleon Dynamite series, according to a report at FishbowlLA.
The series would reunite the voice cast of the 2004 hit film, including Jon Heder, Efran Ramirez, Aaron Ruell and Jon Gries. The film’s director Jared Hess, who wrote the script with Jerusha Hess, also are involved with the new series. The film grossed an estimated $44 million.
The report speculates that the project could be integrated into the network’s Sunday night Animation Domination block, which also includes The Simpsons, Family Guy, American Dad! and The Cleveland Show, though one of those shows may need to be replaced or moved to a different night.
One such midseason replacement on the network is Bob’s Burgers. Fox has ordered 13 episodes of the new animated comedy series, which was created by Home Movies co-creator Loren Bouchard, and centers on a man who runs a burger restaurant with the help of his high-strung wife and three unruly children. Bob’s Burgers will air as part of the Sunday night Animation Domination lineup at 8:30 p.m.
The new Fox Sunday Night lineup is as follows:
7:00 – The Simpsons
7:30 – American Dad
8:00 – The Simpsons
8:30 ‘ Bob’s Burgers
9:00 – Family Guy
9:30 ‘ The Cleveland Show
