Warner Bros. is ramping up its plans for DC Comics superheroes, with a Green Lantern animated series in development for Cartoon Network and release dates set for more live action features.
The Green Lantern series was announced by Phil Kent, chairman and CEO of Time Warner’s Turner networks unit at a Time Warner investor’s day presentation, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
No details on the series beyond a potential release date of fall 2011 were revealed.
A live-action, stereoscopic 3D Green Lantern movie is in production for a June 17, 2011, release.
Meanwhile, Warner chairman and CEO Barry Meyer said fans can expect the third Batman film from director Christopher Nolan on July 20, 2012, and a new Superman film by the holiday season of the same year.
In addition, Meyer said the studio is close to giving the green light to a live-action feature starring The Flash, and that the studio is developing features around Wonder Woman, Aquaman and characters from MAD Magazine.
