Vancouver-based Rainmaker Entertainment has announced it will make two original animated feature films.
According to Variety, Rainmaker will first make a movie called OGO, about a young girl who discovers Ogopogo, a Loch Ness-style monster believed to live in British Columbia’s Lake Okanagan. Jacob Medjuck, formerly of DreamWorks Animation, will write and direct the movie.
The studio’s second announced feature is Country Bunny and the Little Gold Shoes, based on the book by DuBose Heyward. Alison Snowden and David Fine are on board as consulting directors. Bernice Vanderlaan is writing it.
The studio plans to get its first feature out in two to three years, with a production schedule that sees a new film released every 12 to 18 months.
Rainmaker’s original features are headed up by Catherine Winder, a former Lucasfilm Animation producer who launched the Star Wars: The Clone Wars feature and series. She joined Rainmaker about a year ago.
