Wes Anderson’s stop-motion animated feature Fantastic Mr. Fox won the best feature film award at the 50th Annecy International Animated Film Festival.
The 34th annual awards, announced Saturday, also bestowed the audience award on Fantastic Mr. Fox and a special distinction award to Eleanor’s Secret. The feature film jury was comprised of Manuela Schobel-Lumb, Ari Folman and Tim Rice.
In the short film category, the Annecy Cristal Award for best short went to The Lost Thing, an Australia-Great Britain co-production by Andrew Ruhemann and Shaun Tan.
The shorts jury, which comprised Sayoko Kinoshita, Patrice Leconte and John Musker, gave a special jury award to Sinna mann (Angry Man), by Norway’s Anita Killi. The film also won the audience award.
The Jean-Luc Xiberras Award for a first film was given to Jean-Fran’ois, by Tom Haugomat and Bruno Mangyoku of France.
Special distinction ex ‘quo awards were presented to Les Journaux de Lipsett (Lipsett’s Diaries) by Theodore Ushev of Canada, and Don’t Go by Turgut Akacik of Turkey.
The Sacem Award for original music went to Love & Theft, by Andreas Hykade of Germany
