Rhythm & Hues Edges 2 Projects Toward Production

Visual-effects shop Rhythm and Hues is getting into the production game, moving a pair of projects toward production, according to Variety.

The first is Toad Trip, a family comedy that will mix live-action actors with a CG-animated toad. Stephen Herek is attached to direct from a script by Paul Tamasy and Eric Johnson. The film is currently planned to shot in the fall for release either next summer or fall.

The second project is Tales from the Farm, based on the acclaimed graphic novel by Jeff Lemire about growing up in rural Canada. The film will be live-action with CG elements. John Carr has adapted it to screenplay and the project is going out to directors and actors soon.

The company’s recent special effects work can be seen in movies such as Knight and Day and Marmaduke.R&H has an equity stake in the upcoming Yogi Bear movie as well, the trade reports.

Rhythm & Hues’ president of film division, Lee Berger, says the company plans to make fully animated features but has yet to decide which projects to choose.
