The Smurfs are coming ‘ to New York City!
Sony debuted the first look at its upcoming The Smurfs movie today with an exclusive photo in USA Today showing Grouchy Smurf, Papa Smurf and Clumsy Smurf in Times Square. The three Smurfs will be voiced by George Lopez, Jonathan Winters and Anton Yelchin, respectively.

Director Raja Gosnell told the newspaper that the Smurfs travel from their traditional forest village setting to New York City via a magical portal and spend much of the movie trying to find their way home.

The film stars Hank Azaria as the evil Gargamel, and Neil Patrick Harris and Jayma Mays as a couple that gives the Smurfs refuge. Other actors lending voices to various Smurfs include singer Katy Perry as Smurfette, Alan Cumming as Gutsy Smurf, B.J. Novak as Baker Smurf, Paul Reubens as Jokey Smurf and Fred Armisen as Brainy Smurf.
The Smurfs will be released as a stereoscopic 3D movie in August of 2011.
