The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences continues its celebration of animation with a program focused on the art of voice acting set for Aug. 19 in Beverly Hills.
The ‘Voices of Character’ event will feature such well-known voice actors as Jim Cummings (Winnie the Pooh), Susan Egan (Meg of Hercules), June Foray (Natasha Fatale and Rocky the Flying Squirrel), Yuri Lowenthal (Ben Tennyson of Ben 10) and Russi Taylor (Minnie Mouse), along with animation director Bob Peterson (who voices Dug the Dog in Up), animator James Baxter and casting executive Rick Dempsey. The panel will be moderated by animation historian Charles Solomon.
The event ‘ the 16th installment of the academy’s Marc Davis Celebration of Animation ‘ will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater at 8949 Wilshire Blvd. in Beverly Hills.
Tickets cost $5 for the general public and $3 for academy members and students with a valid ID. Tickets are available for purchase by mail, at the Academy box office or online at www.oscars.org.
