Third Robot Chicken Star Wars Parody Airs Dec. 12

Robot Chicken is heading back to the galaxy far, far away for a third parody of the beloved Star Wars universe.

Adult Swim has announced Dec. 12 as the premiere date for Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III.

The previous installments in the series have won several Annie Awards, including the best animated television production honor for Episode II.

‘We’re telling more of a linear story this time that covers the series from start to finish,’ says Seth Green, co-creator and executive producer of the series.

‘We wanted to take the Star Wars universe and see if through the eyes of our Robot Chicken: Star Wars Emperor Palpatine, Darth Vader, Boba Fett and Gary the Stormtrooper,’ added Matthew Senreich, co-creator and executive producer. ‘We’ll still flip around the universe but we’ll get a unique perspective from the bad guy side, from people who just want to rule the universe.’

Robot Chicken: Star Wars Episode III will be directed by Chris McKay and feature the voices of Zac Efron as Anakin Skywalker, the original C-3PO himself Anthony Daniels, Mike Henry of The Cleveland Show and Donald Glover from the NBC series Community. Returning guest voices include Billy Dee Williams as Lando Calrissian and Ahmed Best as Jar Jar Binks.

In other Robot Chicken news, the series announced that its fifth season will begin airing on Adult Swim in October and that the show’s ‘Convention Nerd’ character will become an action figure in a Toys R Us exclusive that will debut at Comic-Con International: San Diego.

The figure, which includes a top hat, sandwich, Magical Unicorn mayonnaise jar, Adult Swim swag bag and a 2010 San Diego Comic-Con T-shirt, will be available at the Entertainment Earth booth through the con and online at Toysrus.com for $20.
