Facial animation specialist Image Metrics has acquired FacePro, a leading lip-sync service and production company.
FacePro has specialized in providing automated lip-sync services that use audio-analysis technology to produce accurate results that meet art directors’ needs. The company’s clients include video game companies such as Activision, Ubisoft, THQ and Square Enix, as well as visual effects companies including ILM.
Image Metrics will integrate the FacePro technology into its Faceware facial animation software solution to improve the efficiency and reduce the cost of animation services. The combined technology solution enables facial animation as low as $12 per second.
The deal will see FacePro founder and president Rod Stafford join Image Metrics as audio animation lead. He will participate in the integration of FacePro’s audio-based tools into Image Metrics’ Faceware software.
