Having resurrected the Looney Tunes characters for new short films, the next step in Warner Bros.’ plan to revitalize the beloved franchise is a live-action Bugs Bunny film.
Deadline.com reports that the studio has chosen David Berenbaum to write the screenplay for the film. Berenbaum’s credits include Elf. and The Spiderwick Chronicles, and he also is working on an animated project for George Lucas.
Bugs Bunny first appeared in the 1940 short film A Wild Hare, directed by animation legend Tex Avery. He quickly became one of the studio’s most popular animated characters and appeared in dozens of cartoons through the mid-1960s. He most recently appeared on the big screen in the 2003 feature film Looney Tunes: Back in Action.
The new film will be a mixture of live action and CG, according to Deadline.
