Aussie Cricket Captain Pat Cummins Boards Sport-Inspired Toon ‘Snick and Willow’

The producers of the upcoming animated kids’ series Snick and Willow, which aims to inspire a love for the sport of cricket as well as share its spirit of teamwork with young audiences around the world, has welcomed Australian Test cricket captain Pat Cummins as both a character in the series and an official ambassador for the project. The series is being produced on Cummins’ home turf by Xentrix Studios Australia.

“We are beyond excited to welcome Pat Cummins to the Snick and Willow family. Not only is he one of the most respected figures in international cricket, but his passion for inspiring the next generation aligns perfectly with our mission,” said Ken Cantrill, original creator of the series and Head of Creative at Xentrix Studios Australia. “With the combined influence of Lord Ian Botham and now Pat Cummins, Snick and Willow can speak to cricket lovers across generations and cultures. It’s an incredibly exciting time for the project.”

While Cummins’ animated character in the show is still in development, his involvement brings a burst of star power to Snick and Willow and its mission to encourage youth participation in the sport worldwide.

“Growing the game of cricket has always been incredibly important to me, what Snick and Willow is doing is really special — it’s a fun, vibrant way to bring cricket to kids everywhere,” said Cummins. “I’m especially excited about the role of Willow in the series, and how her journey can help inspire young girls to fall in love with cricket. This show has the potential to leave a real mark on the sport’s future.”

Representing Cummins in the project is long-time manager and cricket advocate Neil Maxwell, who added, “Both Pat and myself are delighted for this opportunity to be part of such a unique project that only enhances the growth of the game we live and breathe. It’s going to be a fun ride watching kids from all over the world connect to this great game via these two wonderful characters, Snick and Willow.”

Snick and Willow is a 3DCG series centered on two cricket-loving kids on a mission to promote fun, friendship and fair play through the spirit of the game. With its blend of humor, adventure and real-world cricket influences, the series aims to ignite a love for cricket in kids of all backgrounds.

Richard Ostroff, Head of Broadcast at Cricket Australia, commented, “Pat joining Snick and Willow as both an ambassador and character is very exciting and further underlines its extraordinary potential. Harnessing the power of quality storytelling to connect kids with cricket is a long overdue initiative. Snick and Willow is a ground-breaking project and we at Cricket Australia, alongside Pat, are proud to be part of the journey.”

The series is being developed by Xentrix Studios Australia, whose current projects also include the animated television series Peggy and Molly and their latest YouTube show, Bigtoon News.
