The Hive Studio today announces its successful crowdfunding campaign for the new gothic animated, long-form TV pilot The Vampair, which has raised over £125,704 and counting. The studio is currently developing the property as an animated series, in collaboration with animator and YouTube creator Daria Cohen.
The campaign, which launched on July 6, has surpassed its initial pledged goal of £117,054. The production company is now exploring opportunities with global partners and broadcasters.
The Vampair was born out of a series of intricately animated music videos by Cohen, and has since grown into a creative universe with an online following of millions of fans won over by its unique blend of gothic aesthetics, theatrical music, visual storytelling and macabre yet comic charm. Beyond YouTube, Cohen engages her audience with behind-the-scenes content, live streams and art videos.
The creative partnership combines Cohen’s creative vision with the animation production expertise of The Hive Studio, led by Oscar-nominated creative producer Amit R. Gicelter.
Cohen has also assembled a team of creative collaborators as voice talent for the pilot project, including “dark cabaret” musician Aurelio Voltaire, musical storyteller Paul Shapera (creator of the Shaperaverse), Lauren Osborn (Shaperaverse) and Krystal LaPorte (Hazbin Hotel). Maxwell Atoms, creator of The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy, is also onboard.
