Acamar Films (U.K.), the award-winning independent producer and distributor of the global hit animated series Bing, today announced the appointment of Tim Ricketts as Chief Operating and Financial Officer (COO & CFO). Tim will be responsible for leading Acamar’s financial and operational strategy, ensuring the business is well-positioned for sustainable growth and global expansion. He will report directly to Acamar Films’ CEO Mikael Shields.
“Tim is a brilliant addition to the Acamar leadership team,” said Shields, who is also the producer of Bing. “His extensive experience across broadcasting, production, and intellectual property ownership are invaluable. Tim’s strategic insight and leadership come at just the right time as we expand globally and we are all looking forward to working with him.”
“I am delighted to be joining Acamar at such an exciting time,” Ricketts commented. “Bing is a unique property that resonates with families around the world. I look forward to working closely with Mikael and the senior team to support Acamar’s global expansion, strengthen our financial and operational capabilities, and help to deliver on the company’s mission to move and delight young children and their grown-ups worldwide.”
As COO & CFO, Ricketts will oversee Acamar’s financial strategy and operations across all areas of the organization. His role will be central to accelerating Acamar’s international growth as well as to supporting the company’s creative ambitions.
Prior to joining Acamar Films, Ricketts was the Chief Operating & Financial Officer at Coolabi Group, where he played a pivotal role in driving strategy, growth and international expansion. He has previously held senior finance and operational roles across the media and entertainment sector, including Gullane Entertainment, United News & Media and TVS Entertainment.
Produced by Acamar Films, with Dublin-based studio Brown Bag Films, Bing has seen extraordinary success since it launched in the U.K. in 2014, winning the International Emmy for Best Children’s Program, the Writer’s Guild Award for best writing in a children’s program and a BAFTA nomination for best children’s program. Adapted for TV from the original books by Ted Dewan, Bing celebrates the joyful, messy reality of preschool life and supports healthy child development by finding the big stories in the little moments.
Bing is licensed in 130 territories worldwide and continues to “move and delight” Bingsters and their grown-ups through an increasing range of award-winning films, books, magazines, apps, consumer products, digital, live shows and cinema experiences.
