The unstoppable stars of KPop Demon Hunters continue to rise, retaining their steady chart-topping viewership on Netflix to officially become the streamer’s No. 1 title on the Most Popular English Films all-time list, with 236 million total views. Having previously reached No. 2 on the list, KPop was the first animated feature to chart on this particular Top 10 list. The new numbers come from the Netflix Top 10 trackers for the week of August 18-24.
The Sony Pictures Animation original, directed by Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans, had already secured its place as Netflix’s most popular animated feature of all time, and just this weekend ruled the domestic box office with its limited release theatrical Sing-Along event. Screenings were held in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, and this version is now available to stream on Netflix alongside the original hit pic.
Additionally the original soundtrack for KPop Demon Hunters — featuring the summer bops by the film’s fictional bands HUNTR/X and Saja Boys — is now the first OST to have four simultaneous Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100:
- “Golden” – HUNTR/X (EJAE, Audrey Nuna & Rei Ami) – No. 1
- “Your Idol” – Saja Boys (Andrew Choi, Neckwav, Danny Chung, Kevin Woo & samUIL Lee) – No. 4
- “Soda Pop” – Saja Boys – No. 5
- “How It’s Done” – HUNTR/X – No. 10
