Netflix’s ‘Arcane’ Wins Second Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program

There’s no stopping Netflix’s “big prestige” series Arcane, which won the Emmy for Outstanding Animated Program, for the second time on Saturday. Christian Linke and Alex Yee’s show won in a highly competitive category that included FOX’s Bob’s Burgers (“They Slug Horses, Don’t They?”), Adult Swim’s Common Side Effects (“Cliff’s Edge”), Netflix’s Love, Death & Robots (“Spider Rose”), and Fox’s The Simpsons (“Bart’s Birthday”)

Arcane, which was produced by a collaboration between the French animation studio Fortiche and Riot Games, the developers of the League of Legends video game, has been one of Netflix’s most successful animated series. It was created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee. Executive producers include Linke, Marc Merrill and Brandon Beck.

The previously announced Juried Individual Achievement Emmys in Animation were also handed out on Saturday, resulting in a big Netflix sweep, as Arcane won two more previously announced Achievement in Animation awards (Background Design and Color) as well as the Sound Editing prize, bringing its total haul to four Creative Emmys, while the streamer’s popular sci-fi anthology series Love, Death + Robots won the Character Animation, Character Animation, Production Design and Storyboard Individual Achievement Emmys.
