MAKE (makevisual.com) creative studio has officially opened applications for the 2025 Commercial Animation Workshop. This selective program gives animation students from around the world the chance to work on a real client-style brief within MAKE’s professional production pipeline, guided by seasoned industry mentors.
The workshop was created to bridge the gap between the classroom and the industry. It provides participants with a hands-on, team-based experience from concept through delivery. Students leave with a polished 15-second, character-driven commercial spec spot and firsthand knowledge of how a professional animation studio collaborates.
“I came away with a much better understanding of the bigger picture in how my work fits into a short commercial format,” said Alex Anderson, a participant in the 2024 Workshop on the ‘Doritos Team.’ “In the past, I often found myself perfecting small details that, in the broader scheme, were not the top priority. The workshop showed me how to focus my time and energy on what really matters, tackling larger tasks that drive the project forward.”
Evan Daly, who was on the ‘TruFru Team’ at last year’s Workshop, reflected, “The workshop helped in many ways, but most of all it gave me a head start in preparing for commercial animation. The generalists I met there were inspiring, and they made me excited to think about how I can fit into the industry after school. It was a great way to shift my mindset. Commercial animation is a lot different than people might expect, so I would definitely recommend the workshop to anyone who has the time to give it their all.”
