Moonheart Entertainment, an all women-led entertainment and technology studio, today announced the expansion of its intellectual property (IP) portfolio with a slate of original, franchise-ready worlds designed for theatrical release, streaming, gaming and immersive experiences.
The company’s strategy for tackling the challenges of ‘franchise fatigue’ and audience fragmentation is centered on a portfolio of fewer, high-conviction cross-platform properties that can scale globally and endure across decades. By combining cinematic storytelling, ethical AI and data-driven audience design, Moonheart’s mission is to build premium ecosystems for the global youth-and-family market.
The studio’s ambitions are underscored by its ownership stake in the FernGully IP — which is also currently in active development with a major studio — alongside a pipeline of original transmedia properties in the works. Moonheart’s vision for its long-tail value IP catalog is a collection of emotionally resonant story worlds with the potential to thrive cross theatrical, streaming, gaming and merchandising.
Guiding Moonheart’s creative vision are Rósa Guðmundsdóttir (Chief Creative Officer), Moonli Singha (Founder & CEO) and Krystine Beneke (EVP of Finance & Operations). With roots in diverse disciplines, each woman contributes a unique blend of imagination, emotional depth and technological expertise to the studio. Their collective vision behind Moonheart’s IP portfolio is to craft immersive worlds where emotionally resonant narratives meet bold, innovative design.

“For too long, audiences have been served recycled stories. We’re building worlds that spark wonder, carry emotional depth, and feel alive across formats — from theaters and streaming to games and immersive experiences,” said Guðmundsdóttir. “Our goal is to create stories that endure, not just for one cycle, but for generations.”
To strengthen its expansion, Moonheart is collaborating with leading creative partners who share its vision for building enduring worlds. Among them is Derek Frey, founder of Otherworldly Pictures, who joins as Creative Producer for one of Moonheart’s flagship projects.
Frey is best known for his 20-plus years as producer and former head of Tim Burton Productions, where he produced and collaborated on some of Burton’s most acclaimed films, including Dumbo, Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Big Eyes, Sweeney Todd and Alice in Wonderland. His expertise in world-building, visual heart-forward storytelling and franchise development makes him an invaluable partner as Moonheart scales its creative slate.

“The team at Moonheart is creating the kind of imaginative, boundary-crossing IP that today’s audiences are craving, and I’m thrilled to be collaborating with Rósa and the team to shape stories that will resonate across generations,” Frey enthused.
Additional high-profile creative and producing partners are expected to be announced later this year.
Moonheart’s expansion comes at a critical juncture for the entertainment industry, where several macro trends underscore why its model is designed for long-term relevance, the studio notes. Hollywood is facing franchise fatigue, with audiences increasingly dissatisfied by sequels and reboots and demanding fresh IP that delivers genuine variety and excitement. At the same time, streaming platforms continue to dominate viewing habits while gaming is forecast to surpass $500-665B by 2030-2033, making Moonheart’s cross-format IP strategy particularly timely. Technology is also reshaping storytelling, with AI transforming how content is developed, discovered and distributed; Moonheart says it is uniquely positioned at this crossroad by leveraging ethical AI and data-driven tools to enhance, not replace, human imagination.
Further, as women remain underrepresented in green-lighting and franchise creation, Moonheart’s women-led leadership team provides an authentic, distinctive lens that resonates with audiences and builds brand affinity. Finally, in an era where studios are consolidating around fewer, ‘bankable bets,’ Moonheart asserts its focused portfolio model makes it an ideal partner to deliver high-quality, scalable IP built for the future.
