New ‘Last Whale Singer’ Trailer Dives into a Colorful Ocean World

With multiple territories pre-sold and a German theatrical launch planned for February, the 3D CG family animated indie The Last Whale Singer today debuted a new official trailer via Deadline. The film is due to roll out worldwide in 2026.

The spot offers a sneak peek at the journey of a teenage humpback whale on his quest to discover his individual song. We also glimpse the terrible beast known as the Leviathan and meet some of the colorful oceanic characters he meets along the way, from a meditative sea slug to a bombastic walrus commanding a flotilla of penguins.

The Last Whale Singer has pre-sold to more than 20 territories, and is set to screen at a number of upcoming international film festivals, Deadline reports. The pic will float to Zurich, Hamburg, Nordic Film Days Lübek, Schlingel and Young Horizon Film Festival. International exhibitors include KMBO (France), Little Dreams (Germany), PRIS Audiovisuals (Portugal), Rosebud21 (Greece), Nowe Horyzonty (Poland), Icon Film Distribution (Australia) and Maison 4 Tiers (Canada).

The film is written and directed by Reza Memari (Richard the Stork) and produced through his studio, Telescope Animation (Germany), in collaboration with PFX (Czech Republic) and The FLM Box (Canada), which is handling U.S. distribution. Global Screen is in charge of international sales. Telescope co-CEO Maite Woköck is producer, with Jiri Mika and Fanny-Laure Malo as co-producers and Clark Peterson as executive producer. Steven Majaury and Pavel Hrubos are co-directors.

Synopsis: Vincent, a teenage humpback whale, is the orphaned son of the last Whale Singer, whose magical song once protected the oceans. Burdened by the loss of his parents, Vincent doubts his own abilities. When the monstrous Leviathan escapes from a melting iceberg, threatening all marine life with its deadly ink, Vincent must find his own song to stop the threat. But overwhelmed by self-doubt, he instead embarks on a perilous journey into the deep sea to bring his parents back from the mythical Star Pool, hoping his father can defeat the Leviathan in his place. Joined by Walter, his finicky sucker fish nanny, and Darya, a brave deaf orca, Vincent must face his fears, accept his loss, and discover his own song to save the oceans.
