The Summer Hikaru Died is a coming-of-age horror story about a teenage boy named Yoshiki whose childhood best friend Hikaru goes missing in the mountains. One week later, something else returns … the being looks like Hikaru, and sounds like Hikaru, but Yoshiki knows it is not truly his lost friend. Although he tries to return to their usual, everyday routine with this not-Hikaru, strange happenings begin plaguing their quiet village.
