Hulu is welcoming a fresh anime original to its streaming lineup this month, announcing the launch of Cat’s Eye on September 26. Based on the manga by Tsukasa Hojo (published by Shueisha), the new series stays true to the original work while honoring the 1980s anime series produced by TMS.
The platform today released the official trailer and key art for this latest iteration of Cat’s Eye, which follows the adventures of charming art thieves The Kisugi Sisters in a thrilling reimagining of the best-selling manga. The 12-part series will be available to watch on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+.
Synopsis: Hitomi, Rui and Ai are three sisters with a secret. By day, they run the popular Cat’s Eye Café; by night, they slip into the shadows, executing high-stakes art heists with precision and style. Since its manga debut in 1981, Cat’s Eye has developed a global fandom, with the upcoming series sure to deliver on everything fans have come to love: thrilling action, high stakes heists and the impossibly complex relationship between Hitomi and her partner Detective Toshio — a man sworn to catch the infamous thieves.
The new series is produced by Liden Films (Rurouni Kenshin 2023, Berserk) and directed by Yoshihumi Sueda (Sailor Moon Cosmos, High School DxD).
The voice cast is led by Mikako Komatsu (Whisper Me a Love Song, Classroom of the Elite) as Hitomi, Ami Koshimizu (The Rising of Shield Hero, Spice and Wolf) as Rui, Yumiri Hanamori (Arifureta, Laid-Back Camp) as Ai, Takuya Sato (Unnamed Memory; Welcome to Demon-School, Iruma-kun) as Toshio, Yoko Higasa (Dr. Stone, Shangri-La Frontier) and Katsuyuki Knoishi (Gachiakuta, The Apocthecary Diaries).
