Briarcliff Entertainment today invites audiences into the big top to meet the amiable abomination starring in Stitch Head, the animated family pic bringing a charming new creature crew to theaters in time for Halloween. Voice starring Asa Butterfield (Sex Education, Ender’s Game), the film will open October 29.
Synopsis: High above the little town of Grubbers Nubbin, in a castle laboratory, the maddest of all mad professors brings monstrous creations to (almost) life … and then promptly forgets all about them. So, who runs the castle? Who keeps the monsters in line, so the townsfolk don’t form an angry mob? That job falls to Stitch Head — the professor’s very first creation. He does it all, unnoticed and unthanked. But when a ramshackle freak show rolls into town, its sly owner, Fulbert Freakfinder, comes knocking, offering Stitch Head fame, fortune … and maybe even love. A whimsical, heartfelt twist on the Frankenstein legend, Stitch Head is a comedy adventure for monsters of every age.
Directed by and adapted for the screen by Steve Hudson (True North), Stitch Head is based on the first story in the children’s book series by Guy Bass.
The voice cast also features Joel Fry (Our Flag Means Death), Alison Steadman (Better Man), Rob Brydon (The Amazing Maurice), comedian Fern Brady, Tia Bannon (The Midnight Sky) and Jamali Maddix (Hate Thy Neighbour).
Stitch Head is produced by Sonja Ewers and Mark Mertens; executive producers are Adam Nagle, Mark Rau, Guy Collins, Tom Ortenberg, Ronnie Exley, Jeremy Ross and Oli Strong. Nick Urata (Paddington) composed the music. The film premiered in the Annecy Presents section of the Annecy International Animation Film Festival in June; it is a production of Germany’s Gringo Films with animation by Assemblage Entertainment and distribution by GFM Animation. Briarcliff will release Stitch Head in association with Rabbits Black.
