Hollywood-based management and production firm The Gotham Group (gotham-group.com) has signed filmmaker/showrunner, Charlie Faulks to its roster. The up-and-coming creator’s original animated series Bloke of the Apocalypse (6 x 7′) is launching on YouTube on Halloween (Oct. 31).
At only 20 years of age, while studying Screen Arts at Massey University, Faulks’ original 2D-animated horror-comedy series was picked and fully funded by New Zealand On Air as part of its $5 million “Within My Reach” investment dedicated to engaging young New Zealanders with local content.
Inspired by Faulks’ family and childhood on a Gisborne farm, Bloke of the Apocalypse follows a father and son duo in the rural back blocks of New Zealand as they battle a zombie apocalypse (and some annoying neighbors) while taking care of their pet lamb, Lambie.
Faulks is the show’s writer, director and artist, providing him the opportunity for excellent on-the-job education. Additionally, he has worked as a character designer with Mukpuddy, BBC and Venturia Animation Studios, among others. Faulks is based in Wellington, New Zealand, and now represented by The Gotham Group.
