Exclusive Clip: ‘Exorcism Chronicles’ Possesses U.S. Theaters Oct. 17

A star pupil in talismanic magic takes center stage in a newly revealed clip from Exorcism Chronicles: The Beginning, the Korean adult animated feature film based on the best-selling novel Toemarok by Lee Woo-hyeok. The supernatural action pic will roll out in theaters nationwide through Viva Pictures starting Friday, October 17.

Synopsis: When a demonic uprising threatens to end the world as they know it, a monk and an excommunicated priest join forces to protect the powerful young boy and the next generation of magic. As dark forces close in, the unlikely trio must confront their inner demons.

Marking the directorial debut of Kim Dong-chul, Exorcism Chronicles: The Beginning is produced by Locus Animation (Yumi’s Cells: The Movie, Red Shoes and the Seven Dwarfs), and features the voices of Choi Han (Guilty Gear Strive), Nam Doh-hyeong (Fairy Tail), Chung Yu-chung and Kim Yeon-woo (DNF Duel). The 85-minute feature was produced over a period of 6 years by a 680-strong team.

The film premiered in competition at the 2024 Annecy Festival and went on to screen at Sitges later that year. Showbox opened Exorcism Chronicles in Korea in February of this year, where it debuted at No. 2 on the box office charts and went on to gross $3.34 million. Sales agency Finecut acquired the rights for more than 120 territories ahead of the 2025 European Film Market.
