After five long years, global hit YouTube animated series Spookiz is coming out of the crypt, launching a new season for Halloween! Episode 1 of the next chapter, “Monsters Awakening,” was released today (Friday, October 31).
The new season takes the terrifying tots out of their familiar elementary school hideout to Japan, where they will encounter monsters from Japanese folklore.
The season prologue reveals that the “Spookiz” are being targeted by a vengeful monster hunter, prompting them to embark on a journey to seek guidance from an ancient monster, Tengu, to awaken their powers and teach them what it truly means to be real monsters. In the first episode, we are introduced to Cula the Dracula, found washed up on the shore, and Kebi the Goblin in his infant state. Will they be able to awaken their true monster powers?
Spookiz is a 3D CG animation with a global fanbase of more than 6.2 million subscribers and over 3.2 billion total views (totals as of October 30) on the official YouTube channel. This non-verbal animation, which primarily consists of one- to three-minute episodes, has won over viewers not only in the United States, but also across Asia, Latin America and Europe. The IP is fully owned by Sony Music Labels Inc, produced by Keyring Studio in South Korea.
New episodes of Spookiz are set to be released every two weeks on Fridays at 8 a.m. ET.
