Sofía Vergara Animated Series ‘Koati’ Sets Bilingual Netflix Premiere in November

Netflix families can discover a new band of rainforest animal friends in Koati, a fresh 2D-animated series based on the 2021 feature film of the same name. Executive produced by and voice starring multiple Emmy Award nominee Sofía Vergara (Griselda, Modern Family), the 13-episode kids’ series has been picked up by Netflix and is set to premiere on the streamer on November 13 in both English and Spanish. Koati will be available to subscribers in the U.S., Canada, Latin America, U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.

Synopsis: Koati is an animated series that follows four unlikely heroes — Nachi, a free-spirited coati; Xochi, a fearless monarch butterfly; Pako, a funny glass frog; and Xuxu, a clever and magical axolotl. They live in the Land of Xo, a vibrant rainforest community filled with fun and exotic animals. Together, they go on exciting adventures, exploring nature, celebrating friendship, and learning in a world full of wonder.

Created and executive-produced by Vergara, Melissa de Assís Escobar and Anabella Sosa Dovarganes, the series is set in a colorful rainforest inspired by real Latin American landscapes. Each episode spotlights themes of curiosity, kindness, emotional intelligence, celebration of culture and love of nature.

Sosa-Dovarganes is showrunner, with writing by de Assis Escobar and Federico Marcello and direction by Sergio Slepczuk and Fernando Sawa, and musical production by Julio-Reyes Copello (Magnus Studios). The series was produced as ViX Original by Upstairs Miami and Vergara’s Latin World Entertainment (LatinWE).

The voice cast features Vergara as Zaina, Adriana Barraza as Amaya, Juan Pablo Monterrubio as Nachi, Habana Zoé López as Xochi, Emilio Treviño as Pako, Andrea Valentina Cabrera as Xuxu and Sebas Villalobos as Calli.

Vergara told Deadline: “I have been working on this for over a decade. It has been hugely important to me to create a show for kids that celebrates the nature, animals, family values, and music of Latin America. I’m incredibly proud that the show has found a home at Netflix and that the team there is helping to share the virtues of Latin America globally.”
