DeAPlaneta Ent. to Reveal First Look at ‘Bernard’ Feature at AFM

Following a successful market for its productions at MIPCOM, DeAPlaneta Entertainment will be attending the American Film Market (Nov. 11-16, Los Angeles). There, the company will present its latest developments to partners and clients, including the upcoming theatrical feature film based on the adventures of Bernard, the clumsiest hero of all. The first images from the Bernard movie will be unveiled at AFM.

“The premiere of the teaser and the first images of our new theatrical release in 2027 is the cherry on the top that culminates our 25th anniversary,” said Carlos Biern, Content & Media Sales Director, DeAPlaneta Kids & Family. “It also marks the completion of the first step in our commitment to quality family entertainment, starring our best-known characters in a medium as familiar as cinema.”

DeAPlaneta has already this year inked a deal with leading Chinese L&M and kids’ & family content company Alpha Group to further develop and promote the Bernard brand globally. The IP is based on the dialog-free animated series starring a clumsy and comical polar bear. DeAPlaneta Entertainment will manage the rights to Bernard-related content produced by BRB Internacional in Western countries, as well as new seasons and productions created around the Bernard brand.

Directed by Toni García (Dogtanian and the Three Muskehounds) and produced by DeAPlaneta Entertainment, the new Bernard feature depicts the encounter between the beloved bear and an alien who grants him incredible superpowers. However, far from helping him to become the greatest protector of the planet, these abilities further complicate the protagonist’s life, forcing him to lead a double existence as a food delivery driver and the clumsiest superhero in the universe.

Alpha Group holds the film’s rights in China, while Luminescence Films will collaborate exclusively with DeAPlaneta on international sales.

“We are very excited to bring such an esteemed, popular and internationally recognizable brand to a global audience. Tens of Millions of kids around the world have grown up watching our unique bear and his adventures. We expect very strong response from the distributors, platforms and network,” said Juraj Barabas, Managing Director of Luminescence.

Since his debut, Bernard has become a global favorite. The animated comedy series is currently broadcast worldwide in more than 180 countries on linear channels such as Disney, Cartoon Network, Televisa, BBC, Televisión Española, KIKA, M6/Gulli, Nickelodeon, Canal Panda, EBS and CCTV, as well as on VOD platforms including Netflix, Prime Video, Rakuten, Youku and Hulu.

Bernard‘s YouTube channel has amassed 6.7 million subscribers and surpassed 2.648 billion views, with an additional 2 million unique views per month. The brand has also collaborated with major licensing partners such as Universal, Ravensburger, Famosa, Panini, Clementoni, Warner Bros. and Comansi in different product categories.
