Kaleidoscope Film Distribution (KFD) has locked a raft of sales on the now complete animated adventure, The Land of Sometimes, and has debuted a new image ahead of AFM (seen at top).
Radial Entertainment has acquired North American distribution rights from Kaleidoscope Film Distribution. Shout! Factory will lead the rollout in North America, joined by distributors in China (Vision Films), Portugal (Outsider Films), the CIS and Baltics (Movie Distribution Networks), the Middle East (Front Row), Israel (Red Cape Distribution), Vietnam (Mockingbird Pictures) and Mongolia (Izagur Media).
Kaleidoscope Entertainment will release theatrically in the U.K. in Q1 2026, with full details to follow.
From director Leon Joosen (Moley, Saving Santa) and producers Tony Nottage (Saving Santa) and Bonnie Arnold (Toy Story, How to Train Your Dragon), the CG film features new songs by EGOT-winning songwriter Sir Tim Rice (The Lion King, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast) and Pete Hobbs.
Synopsis: On Christmas Eve, twins Alfie and Elise wish for things beyond their reach, their father is missing at war, and they have a hard life, Elise just wants to escape from the world, whilst Alfie wants to hide away from it — in doing so, they don’t feel like siblings any more. That evening their mother presents them with a watch, left by their father as a Christmas gift, but this is no ordinary watch, it’s a Wish Watch.
That evening they are visited by The Wish Collector, an enigmatic and energetic character. He is there to make their wishes come true, and take them on a journey to The Land of Sometimes, where all four seasons pass in just one day — but be careful what you wish for! Throughout this musical adventure, our twins will discover a strange and magical world, filled with the most unusual and charismatic characters. Along the way they learn to become brother and sister again. They look out for each other and appreciate that love, family and friendship are more important than wishes.
The voice cast includes Ewan McGregor (Star Wars, Christopher Robin), Helena Bonham Carter (Harry Potter, Alice in Wonderland), Asa Butterfield (Sex Education, Hugo), Alisha Weir (Matilda: The Musical, Abigail), Andrei Shen (Matilda: The Musical, Abigail), Terry Jones (Monty Python) and Mel Brooks (The Producers, Blazing Saddles).
Inspired by the award-winning audiobook by Francesca Longrigg, The Land of Sometimes is produced by Two Daughters Entertainment Ltd. (Moley) and Nottage Productions, with screenplay by Tony Nottage. Bonnie Arnold and Alan Yentob (Billy Elliot) are exec producing alongside Two Daughters Executive Chairman James Reatchlous and CEO Simon Bobin, and Spencer Pollard for Kaleidoscope Film Distribution.
“We are excited to be able to bring this amazing story to the world,” said Pollard. “It has been a long journey to get here and we are thrilled that Two Daughters and the rest of the creative team and production have delivered a stellar family adventure that will be loved around the world. Buyers have engaged with the film and the pre sales achieved are a great reflection on how sought after this project was.”
KFD is a John Gore Studios company.
