Today Netflix announced Living the Dream, an incisively observed workplace sitcom from BAFTA nominated multi-hyphenate George Gendi (Gumball, Apple & Onion) and Hanna-Barbera Studios Europe. News of the upcoming adult animation was unveiled by Julio Bonet (Director, Animation Series at Netflix) at Manchester Animation Festival, during the ‘State of the Animation Nation’ panel.
Synopsis: Best friends Des and Ray are a couple of really cool guys from London who should have made it big by now but haven’t but still could. Instead they’re stuck at a we’re-gonna-save-the-planet type company called Ecofood, doing “social media” for hardly any money. Now they must navigate awkward workplace romance, HR blunders, directives from the L.A. office and Ray’s dad’s disapproval. Could be worse, but could be much, much better.
“If living the dream is being asked for a quote for a press release to announce my new show and then at Netflix’s request, trying to make it more cheeky/funny and then doing that countless times because none of them are good enough, then I’ve made it,” said Gendi. “Anyway, let’s see if they let me use this one.”
