New Holiday Special ‘Elmo & Mark Rober’s Merry Giftmas’ Coming to Netflix

Today, Netflix announced Elmo & Mark Rober’s Merry Giftmas, a new special from the world of Sesame Street for families to enjoy together this holiday season. The 30-minute festivity produced by Sesame Workshop and Rober’s CrunchLabs premieres December 8 on the streamer.

“At Sesame Street, we love teaming up with like-minded partners to spark curiosity and inspire playful learning,” said Kay Wilson Stallings, Executive Vice President, Chief Creative Development & Production Officer, Sesame Workshop. “Collaborating with NASA-trained engineer Mark Rober, Elmo and friends explore relatable science concepts in a festive Netflix holiday special, making an unforgettable experience for the whole family.”

Rober commented, “Teaming up with Elmo and the Sesame Street Muppets is pretty much a childhood dream come true and while viewers might not make a snowball throwing robot exactly like Abby and me, it’s proof that with a little imagination and creativity, you could make anything you can dream up.”

Logline: Elmo and his Sesame Street friends team up with former NASA engineer turned YouTube star Mark Rober to make special presents for a Merry Giftmas exchange.

The special includes three new original songs: “Merry Giftmas,” “Failure Is Awesome” and “The Best Christmas Gift Is You.”

Elmo & Mark Rober’s Merry Giftmas is written by Children’s Emmy, Image Award and Humanitas Prize nominee Halcyon Person (Karma’s World, Dee & Friends in Oz) and executive produced by Scott Lewers, Sal Perez, Mark Rober and Kay Wilson Stallings. Filming was conducted in New York and Los Angeles.

The new season of Sesame Street is now available on Netflix and Mark Rober’s new competition show will debut in 2026. The seven-episode season of Mark Rober’s CrunchLabs, featuring a curation of his viral science and DIY videos, is now on Netflix.
