Cinephiles can enjoy a freshly baked taste of Endless Cookie, as a new official trailer for the award-winning animated documentary has been served up by Obscured Releasing. Following its international festival tour with stops at Annecy, Sundance, HotDocs, Sitges and Thessaloniki, the film will play in theaters in New York and Los Angeles on Friday, December 5.
Endless Cookie is an autobiographical animated documentary created by half-brothers Pete and Seth Scriver, painstakingly crafter over the last eight years.
Synopsis: The film plays out like a particularly tangential fever dream — a colorful depiction of the many overlapping episodes of the brothers’ lives–from their upbringing in Downtown Toronto’s Kensington Market to Pete’s current residence in an isolated Northern Manitoba First Nation community. As they reminisce, their yarns are often punctuated, interrupted or else hijacked by the charismatic members of their family who indulge in their own reveries. Endless Cookie is at heart an impressionistic and often surreal depiction of family but it is also a documentary of the creative process.
Pete and Seth are half brothers. Pete is a first nations carver, poet, mechanic and storyteller living in Shamattawa. He was recently nominated for a Hero award for saving his neighbor’s life by rescuing her from a house on fire. Seth is an artist, animator and carpenter living in Toronto. He won the Best Canadian First Feature at TIFF in 2013 for his animated feature Asphalt Watches that he created with Shayne Ehman.
Endless Cookie is directed by Seth and Pete Scriver, written by Seth. Producers are Seth, Dan Bekerman, Jason Ryle, Chris Yurkovich and Alex Ordanis, executive producers are Neil Mathieson and Jordan Hart.
The film has been awarded the Golden Alexander from Thessaloniki Documentary Festival, The Contrechamp Jury Award from Annecy International Animation Film Festival, The Rogers Audience Award for Best Canadian Feature from the 2025 Hot Docs Festival, Golden Dove for Best Feature Animation from Dok Leipzik, Best Documentary from Sitges Film Festival, an Honorable Mention for Best International Animated Feature Film from Guadalajara International Film Festival and an Honorable Mention for Best Documentary Feature from Calgary Underground Film Festival.
