As part of today’s Stranger Things Day celebrations — marking the day when Will Byers went missing in Hawkins, Indiana (November 6, 1983) — fans have been treated to first-look images and a darkly compelling featurette going behind the scenes of the upcoming animated series Stranger Things: Tales From ’85.
The series is slated for release on Netflix in 2026.
In the featurette, Stranger Things creators Matt Duffer and Ross Duffer explain how the project was initially conceived as an homage to classic ’80s cartoons, noting that creating a new story in an animated world allowed showrunner and executive producer Eric Robles (Fanboy & Chum Chum, Glitch Techs) and his team to really go wild.
“When we started talking about, was there anything else we wanted to do with Stranger Things, this was one of our first ideas,” Ross shares in the video.
