Paramount Pictures is setting up an action-packed holiday season for 2028, announcing release dates for two yet-to-be-titled feature films from a couple of its biggest franchises.
The untitled live-action hybrid Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles project is slated for November 17, 2028. Details are yet to be announced, by Neal H. Moritz is on board as producer, having delivered Paramount’s three Sonic the Hedgehog films as well as Universal’s Fast & Furious franchise.
Paramount’s two live-action TMNT movies plus the animated feature Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem (Nickelodeon Movies/Point Grey Pictures) have grossed nearly $913 million worldwide combined, and the brand delivered $1 billion in retail for the company in 2023.
Speeding along behind the heroes on a half shell will be a new, yet-to-be titled pic from the live-action hybrid Sonic the Hedgehog universe on December 22, 2028. This project will also be produced by Mortiz through his Original Film banner, alongside SEGA Sammy Group.
In the same pre-Christmas frame last year, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 blasted into theaters at No. 1 with $60.1 million in domestic box office, and went on to gross $492 million worldwide. The trilogy so far has collected a hoard of gold rings with $1.2 billion in total box office. The franchise has already spun off a hit streaming series with Knuckles, which surpassed 11 million global hours viewed on Paramount+ in its first month and became the platform’s No. 1 Kids & Family title by hours watched.
