Terra Gets Disney Toons in Latin America

The Walt Disney Co. Latin America has signed a content distribution agreement with leading Latin American Internet company Terra. The pact will allow Terra TV users to view, free of charge, such animated feature films as Finding Nemo, Hercules, Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Disney-branded series to be offered include Lilo & Stitch, Buzz Lightyear of Star Command and The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse.

Diego Lerner, president of The Walt Disney Co. Latin America, comments, ‘This is a highly significant agreement since it reflects an important step forward consistent with our strategic vision: that our contents be distributed, offered and consumed through all available platforms, both traditional electronic and new digital ones. Digital platforms in particular pave the way for expansion opportunities in our content distribution business, allowing us also to learn and grow.

Now in its seventh year, Terra Latin America operates in 18 countries, including the U.S., with approximately 2.2 million broadband customers and 44 million unique visitors per month. In 2006, the company reported net revenues of more than $426 million. The Terra portals in Latin America and the U.S. are owned by Telef’nica International S.A.
