Family-focused production and distribution company Promenade Pictures will enter the U.S. theatrical distribution arena when its CG-animated feature, The Ten Commandments, is released on Oct. 26. Founded by former Paramount Pictures president Frank Yablans, the company plans to launch 11 more movies in a series dubbed Epic Stories of the Bible.
Under president and COO Cindy Bond, Promenade will distribute four to six films per year, handling both wide-release, mainstream family films and movies produced for niche markets. In addition to its own slate of productions, the company will distribute acquired pics budgeted in the $5 million to $20 million range.
The Epic Stories of the Bible films will be produced by Promenade and its partners Huhu Studios in New Zealand and iVL Animation (owned by ST Electronics) in Singapore. Promenade will market and distribute all of the films theatrically in the U.S. while retaining worldwide rights. Upcoming films in the franchise will be announced in the coming months.
