Channel Frederator Names Nominees

Internet cartoon network Channel Frederator today announced the nominees for its second annual kudo fest. The second annual Channel Frederator Awards saw more than 2,000 user submissions received, but only 33 films made the cut in a total of 11 viewer-voted categories and seven juried categories. Voting pages go live today at www.channelfrederatorawards.com.

The Channel Frederator Awards honor excellence and creativity in animated content spanning such categories as Cartoon of the Year and So Cute it Hurts. Last year’s event attracted worldwide attention with a Hollywood event and online broadcast that received more than 2 million views. Page views are expected to double this year, and more than 500 people are expected to attend the ‘Metropolis’-themed ceremony at the Canal Room in New York City on Wednesday, June 4. The awards will air online June 10 on the Channel Frederator website.

‘The Channel Frederator cartoon community has uncovered some of the greatest undiscovered talent in the world,’ says Channel Frederator founder Fred Seibert. ‘Now our viewers find their own stars instead of waiting for the media to do it for them.’

The 2008 Cartoonist of the Year will be chosen by the viewers and staff of Channel Frederator, and will be announced at the end of May. To see the full list of 2008 nominees, go to www.channelfrederatorawards.com/page/nominees.
