Universal and Dark Horse are going back to school for their first project since signing a three-year production pact last year, moving ahead with an adaptation of The Umbrella Academy.
The brainchild of Gerard Way, lead singer of the rock group My Chemical Romance, and artists Gabriel Ba, Umbrella is being adapted by writer Mark Bomback. The comic, a mixture of classic 1980s X-Men and Grant Morrison’s version of Doom Patrol, won an Eisner Award last year for best limited series.
Bombeck’s credits include the just-released Race to Witch Mountain for Disney, as well as the sequel Live Free or Die Hard.
