Although the latest trailer for the upcoming Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince hit the Internet only a few days ago, it has already become an instant sensation among fans all over the world. Considered by many as one of the darkest of the Potter books, the movie will be released by Warner Bros. on July 15.
Directed by Peter Yates with a script by Steven Kloves, the movie follows the young wizards sixth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he comes up a mysterious old book which gives him clues about Voldemort’s beginnings. Most of the regular series actors’Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint, Michael Gambon, Maggie Smith, David Thewlis, Robbie Coltrane, Julie Walters, Alan Rickman, Helena Bonham Carter and Ralph Fiennes are back for this sixth outing. Jim Broadbent joins the cast as the slippery new professor, Horace Slughorn.
Yates, who directed the last Potter movie, The Order of the Phoenix, has also signed up to direct the next two (final) outings, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows (Parts 1 and 2). The Emmy-winning director has also helmed HBO’s Girl in the Caf’ and the TV version of State of Play, which inspired the new Ben Affleck/Russell Crowe movie.
