Fox, Blue Sky Headed for Rio

Fox Animation and Blue Sky Studios are planning a trip to Rio.

That’s the title of the duo’s next animated feature film, which will be a 3-D CGI feature about a macaw from Minnesota who decides to take a trip to Rio de Janeiro.

The film will be directed by Brazilian-born Carlos Saldanha, who directed Ice Age: The Meltdown and is currently finishing up work on Ice Age 3: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, due out July 1. Saldanha also co-directed the Blue Sky features Ice Age and Robots.

Rio will be produced by Chris Jenkins and Bruce Anderson, and is set for release on April 8, 2011.
