Writers go on Safari for Henson

The Jim Henson Co. has hired Craig Zobel and Matt Chapman to write the script for Monster Safari, a stop-motion animation film.

A trio of directors ‘ Mark Caballero, Chris Finnegan and Seamus Walsh ‘ also have been signed on for the project, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The story is about monsters who come out of hiding and have to be saved from game hunters by bumbling crypto-zoologists. The project began as a short film from Screen Novelties that attracted the attention of execs at Henson.

Zobel and Chapman similarly earned the gig based on a spec script the pair was shoppiong around. The duo, along with Chapman’s brother Mike, started an animation website called Homestarrunner.com.
