Jim Hill Media is reporting that John Lasseter has officially come aboard Disney-Pixar’s Cars 2 as co-director.
The long-rumored move will see the chief creative officer of both Pixar and Disney Animation Studios working alongside Brad Smith, who is making his directorial debut on the movie.
Lasseter directed the original Cars, which debuted in 2006 and grossed $461 million worldwide.
Cars 2 is set for release on June 24, 2011.
