Starz Looks to Sell Film Roman, Starz Animation

Starz is looking to sell its Film Roman and Starz Animation units following an executive shakeup at the pay TV company, according to Variety.

The two animation units are part of the Starz Media division, which also includes Overture and Anchor Bay Entertainment. The businesses will be offered as a group but may be split up and sold individually if there is interest.

The trade reports several offers have been made for the group.

The shakeup comes as the John Malone-controlled company brought aboard former HBO executive Chris Albrecht as president and CEO and pursues a strategy focused on its pay-TV channels.

Overture CEO Chris McGurk and COO Danny Rosett left the company last week.

Film Roman is best known as the animators of The Simpsons, King of the Hill and animated specials featuring Garfield and the Peanuts characters.

Starz Animation’s credits include Shane Acker’s feature film version of 9 and the upcoming Gnomeo & Juliet.
