GameTap Taps Sam & Max

GameTap, Turner Broadcasting System’s broadband gaming and entertainment network, will offer exclusive, 15-day access to all installments of Telltake Games’ episodic video games series, Sam & Max. Telltale and GameTap are also co-producing new Sam & Max machinima shorts, which will premiere in November as a prelude to the second game episode.

Based on the comics by Steve Purcell, Sam & Max has a detective dog solving mysteries with his cunning rabbit companion. Over the years, the property has expanded its following through PC games and an animated TV series. Sam & Max: Season 1 will boast six brand-new episodes with the pilot launching on GameTap’s first birthday, Oct. 17. One new episode will launch each month between December and April, and will be available to GameTap subscribers as part of the monthly subscription rate of $9.95. Fifteen days after each episode debuts on GameTap, it will be made available for purchase from the Telltale Games website at www.telltalegames.com.

The new machinima shorts will join programming on GameTap TV, which will also debut a behind-the-scenes documentary that offers a look inside the making of the new Sam & Max game. Other GameTap TV offerings include Cartoon Network favorites and celebrity interviews.

Telltale also creates games based on Jeff Smith’s Bone comic series and CBS’ hit drama series CSI, in partnership with Ubisoft. In addition, the company has created innovative tools designed specifically for rapid development of high quality, space-efficient titles for digital distribution. Telltale titles can be downloaded from its website, as well as online partners such as Yahoo! Games, Direct-to-Drive, Trymedia Systems, Boonty, and CNET.
