Avid Technology Inc. today announced the worldwide availability of Alienbrain 8, the latest version of its management system software widely used by animation and game development studios. Developed by Avid’s Softimage subsidiary, the system enables CG artists to visually track, control versions, manage and share any kind of digital document’from 3D game assets and models to complex visualization files.

Designed to help game developers and other content creators work with rapidly growing 3D art asset file sizes, Alienbrain 8 introduces plug-ins that integrate with leading 3D applications and allow artists to seamlessly edit, save, and collaborate during all stages of the digital production process. Specific additions include a new, streamlined remote client set-up for multi-site collaboration, a central license server that aids site administrators in managing licenses for large-team environments, and multi-project administrative groups that can be used to select projects and apply pre-defined tasks to all projects within a group.

Starting at the suggested retail price of $495, Alienbrain 8 is available in three configurations: Alienbrain 8: Essentials for Programmers, Alienbrain 8: Essentials for Artists and Alienbrain 8: Advanced.
