The Visual Effects Society (VES) has published the first-ever set of VES guidelines for titles and credits in the visual effects industry. The list has been vetted by VES members and ratified by the VES board of directors. Major studios have reviewed the list as well, and are encouraged to utilize it. A full list of credits/titles to be submitted in accordance with VES Guidelines can be found at www.visualeffectssociety.com.
“Through these collective efforts, a harmonized master list of titles has been created that should be useful as a touchstone for all effects stakeholders,” says VES exec director Eric Roth. “We think it represents a major step forward for our craft in standardizing the use of titles in the credits process for effects artists.”
The Visual Effects Society will next sponsor a panel discussion on the role of the visual effects supervisor during CineGear Expo 2008, taking place June 20-21 on the Universal Studios backlot. Moderated by Oscar-winning vfx guru Richard Edlund, the panel will include industry veterans John Knoll, Michael Fink and Jeff Okun. The hour-long program will take place on Saturday, June 21 at 10:30 a.m. in Theater 3.
