Visual-effects company Pixomondo has expanded its worldwide network of studios to Los Angeles, establishing a flagship studio in the suburb of Venice.
The new facility joins the studio’s current operations, which include operations in Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich, Stuttgart, London and Shanghai. The company offers visual effects production and supervision, CG character creation, 3D animation and pre-visualization for feature films, television and commercials.
The company is currently in production on Roland Emmerich’s 2012 and just completed work on Ninja Assassin, directed by James McTeigue. Both films are due out later this year.
‘Our decision to open a studio in L.A. is a natural evolution of our increasing involvement in feature film visual effects,’ says CEO Thilo Kuther, who founded Pixomondo in 2001. ‘The economic climate provided us with the opportunity to have not just a presence here, but to take advantage of the tremendous artistic and technical talents the city has to offer.’
