D23: Disney Reveals New Animated Feature ‘Hexed,’ Slated for Nov. 2026

Disney CCO Jared Bush said the movie mixes humor, awe, and heartfelt moments. He added that it celebrates the specialness of being different and the way families come together around that. He also sneak peeked early concept art for the movie which was reminiscent of the studio’s magical style seen in Encanto, Raya and the Last Dragon and Wish. Hexed will be Disney’s 64th animated feature.

Bush also revealed new cast members for this fall’s Zootopia 2: animation regular Patrick Warburton (The Tick, Family Guy) will voice an equine mayor and Yvette Nicole Brown (Community, Shape Island) will lend her voice to two characters in the sequel: Bearoness Bear and EMT Otter. Patrick Warburton voices a charismatic but clueless stallion who dreams of being as heroic in real life as the characters he once played on television. Bush introduced multiple exclusive clips from the upcoming feature and was joined in-person onstage by characters Judy Hopps, Nick Wilde and Clawhauser.

InZootopia 2, rookie cops Judy Hopps (voiced by Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voiced by Jason Bateman) find themselves on the twisting trail of a great mystery when Gary De’Snake (voice of Ke Huy Quan) arrives in Zootopia and turns the animal metropolis upside down. To crack the case, Judy and Nick must go undercover to unexpected new parts of town, where their growing partnership is tested like never before. The film also features the voices of Fortune Feimster, Quinta Brunson, and Shakira, who returns as Gazelle. The Oscar-winning team of Jared Bush and Byron Howard direct the film, and Yvett Merino produces.

The studio also announced that the much-anticipated Ice Age 6 has a new title Ice Age: Boiling Point will arrive in theaters on Feb. 5, 2027. Audiences were also treated to the opening scene of Pixar’s Toy Story 5, which showed dozens of Buzz Lightyear action figures stranded on a deserted island after a shipping container washes ashore.

Two new characters will be joining the Toy Story 5 lineup: Smarty Pants, a potty training toy (voiced by Conan O’Brien) and Lilly Pad, who is rumored to be the big villain of the fifth movie. Pixar also confirmed that Buzz Lightyear will be flying in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade as part of the Toy Story 30th anniversary celebration, which is getting a re-release in theaters this September.

Directed and written by Andrew Stanton, Toy Story 5 will be produced by Jessica Choi. Returning cast members include Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz, Joan Cusack as Jessie and Tony Hale as Forky. Anna Faris, Ernie Hudson, and O’Brien are also part of the voice ensemble.

Also on tap for the studio is a new chapter in Jeff Kinney’s Diary of a Wimpy Kid franchise, slated for Dec. 5, 2025 streaming exclusively on Disney+. Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw finds Greg Heffley at odds with his dad’s outsized expectations, pressure builds to turn his act around. After a series of hilarious near disasters, Greg’s dad presents him with an ultimatum that just might challenge Greg’s wimpy ways for good. Directed by Matt Danner (Legend of the Three Caballeros) and written and produced by Jeff Kinney, the movie features the voices of Aaron D. Harris as Greg Heffley and Chris Diamantopoulos as Frank Heffley.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw

D23 will return to Anaheim, California next year: The fan event will take place Aug. 14-16, 2026 with Jodi Benson (The Little Mermaid) confirmed as the first official D23: Fan-bassador.
